Nissan's Future Lab Experiments imagine new vehicle ownership models and map the futu
by News Feeder, 21-06-2024, 05:54 PM
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – Nissan is conducting a series of real-world experiments and trials to bring future mobility scenarios to life through several "Living Labs" underway at Nissan Future Lab. The "Living Lab" research provides user data to help Nissan anticipate and evolve to meet future transportation needs. The difference between traditional research methods and Nissan's "Living Labs" is the research relies on networking with external partners – like San Francisco-based Scoot Networks - to uncover opportunities and learn through observing user behaviors."Working within the living lab framework allows Nissan to experiment out in the marketplace," said Rachel Nguyen, executive director, Nissan Future Lab. "By combining our hardware with outside software, services and systems into collaborative beta tests, Nissan has the opportunity to develop new products and service offerings that fit in the new mobility economy."Inspired by rapid developments in electric and autonomous technology as well as ride sharing trends, Nissan's "Living Labs" focus on vehicle ownership structures, the changing marketplace for vehicle technology and new uses for electric vehicles.Vehicle ownership structures. With the fast-paced growth of smart technologies and the emergence of the sharing economy, Nissan Future Lab is studying different sized and packaged vehicle solutions. Last October, Nissan launched its first "Living Lab" with Scoot Networks to bring 10 Nissan New Mobility Concept Vehicles (NNMC) to Scoot's fleet in San Francisco. The electric-powered "micromobility" vehicles fit between a small motorcycle and a full-size vehicle and are available for rental using the Scoot app sharing platform. Through the pilot, Nissan is gathering data on city dwellers mobility choices for short distance trips, and the role electric vehicles play as shared transportation options. The changing vehicle technology marketplace. The sharing economy also presents new opportunities to leverage vehicle technology. Studying the emerging mobility markets and understanding new business needs – like redistributing shared vehicles to their points of origin – can lead to new applications for still-developing vehicle technologies. The Scoot "Living Lab" is also providing data on vehicle distribution to help Nissan better understand the distance traveled from the origin, popular origin points and other user behaviors.New uses for electric vehicles. Nissan is also actively studying the expanded use of electric vehicles including vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Since 2014, Nissan has participated in a large V2G pilot program with the U.S. Air Force. A fleet of modified Nissan LEAF electric vehicles discharge power back into the gird through a series of bi-directional charging stations. The exchange is used to balance the overall load by absorbing excess power, then putting it back into the grid during times of high demand."The Future Lab team is exploring 'Living Lab' projects designed to help us better understand the real-world benefits of V2G technology for individual electric vehicle consumers and how it fits into their mobility lifestyle in the future," added Nguyen.Rachel Nguyen will provide an update on Nissan's "Living Labs" project during the "Car of Tomorrow: Hardware Makers Building Partnerships to Succeed in a High-Tech World" session on Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Center for Automotive Research's Annual Management Briefing Seminar in Traverse City. Nissan battles at Spa as both GT-Rs get to the checkered flag

Check it out on https://t.co/qXzRxwwxNT at https://t.co/5tnxlepkLt #OMGTR pic.twitter.com/ACmsLKdqYb— Nissan NISMO (@NISMO) August 1, 2016SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium –Despite a troubled race at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, Nissan GT Academy Team RJN got both Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 machines to the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps checkered flag. The team's PRO entry of Lucas Ordonez, Mitsunori Takaboshi and Alex Buncombe showed strong race pace despite starting 43rd on the 69-car grid. The trio moved their way through pack rising up to 20th by the 18th hour of race. Their efforts were hampered by a series of unfortunately timed full course yellow safety car periods. However with five hours, 25 minutes remaining, the team was forced to pit to repair a rear brake light issue. The wet weather that Spa is renowned for finally hit with four hours, 48 minutes remaining, but then trouble struck three and a half hours to go when the No.23 GT-R lost drive. The team was able to get the car back to the pit box and went through a gearbox change in only 60 minutes. The Spanish/Japanese/English trio then had an untroubled run to the flag – including avoiding the drama that kicked off with a sudden rain shower with 30 minutes to go – to cross the line in 44th place. So why do teams never give up even when the gearbox breaks with 2 hours to go? @al_buncombe explains. #NISMOnation pic.twitter.com/0ah2osCHjP— Nissan NISMO (@NISMO) July 31, 2016The No.22 PRO-AM car featured Sean Walkinshaw (UK) alongside GT Academy winners Ricardo Sanchez (Mexico), Matt Simmons (Australia) and Romain Sarazin (France). The quartet also showed good race pace but were hampered after five hours when Sanchez stopped on course with an electrical-based fuel pump issue. The Mexican showed off his mechanical talents to get the car mobile again (circuit breaker issue) to get the car back to the pits where the crew completed a full repair. From that point forward, the four young drivers each gained valuable experience as the team completed an untroubled run to finish in 37th place."Luck wasn't on our side, but in true Spa style we just kept at it and got both cars to the finish line," said team boss Bob Neville. "Some teams had massive hopes of a strong result here and weren't able to pull it off, and other drivers come here for years without ever getting a race finish, so to get both cars home is quite an achievement. We didn't have the pace we would have liked, but in race conditions the cars were quite strong and I'm delighted we were able to battle through some headaches in the race to get to the finish."Not the race of our dreams but was fun to recover up to Top20 then all mechanical issues began. 2002 Lexus GS430
by RichS11, 19-06-2024, 05:09 PM
I've copy and pasted from another forum, so apologies about some of the posts as they may make little sense, but I'll tidy it up....

This is the build up thread for my Lexus GS430. I am not new to the World of Lexus as I have/had a '98 GS300 which has now become my donor car. So the car I have is......

- Lexus GS430
- 2002
- 89K
- Black with grey interior
- Full Lexus service history
- No modifications except the alloy wheels (going very soon!!)
- The car is in overall good condition and I am very happy with it. It does have a couple of minor suspension issues such as ball joints, and ARB droplinks, but I will fix that over the next few weeks.

Future modifications this month will be a full SS system, TTE wheels from my old GS300 and fully adjustable coilovers. As well as adding the black interior from my GS300.

I am looking to modify the car in a subtle way, but as you will see by my first modifications, I get pretty serious with it.

Time for some images.......

So here is the first modification that has taken place today. I decided that although I like the black exterior of the 430, I couldn't stand the grey plastic on the inside. So after viewing an '06 GS300 and liking the grey and black interior, I decided to go down the same route with the 430, utilising the interior from my 300 (which is being split and scrapped).

How the interior started today, the door cards and centre console were changed on the weekend to see if I would like the combination....

An hour into the dashboard change....

Dashboard out, ready for the change of loom....

Both dashboards in the living room getting the looms swapped over....

Dashboard back in the car, black GS300 steering wheel added. Sadly with the lighting it actually looks dark grey but I can assure you the interior plastic is black :p

And below is a picture of the wheels that I will be putting on the 430 once the winter has moved on....

Hello guys, my name's Rich. I recently met a couple of members on here randomly at Brampton Services! We got chatting about my car and mentioned that this place existed and as a result I am here to say hello.

I currently own a Lexus GS430 which has been played with, with more things in the pipeline. I'll add pictures later as I have none on this PC. I've been out of the game for a while and kept my modifying just to myself, as I haven't felt the need to venture to any shows for the past few years, but I think I will start soon and this is my first step back into the scene (so to speak).

I'll add some pics and give the site a good looking over.

Thanks.
