Dave's IS200 Sport
by DaveEdin, 27-03-2018, 08:35 PM
Hi,

Figured I'd start this to track what I've done (and plan to do) to my car.

When I bought it:

Very first mod - changed steering wheel emblem (Thanks for the idea Patrik!)
Before:
After:

Second mod - Stainless Steel Dials & clock surround (Cheers Jason)
Before:
After:

Most recently, fitted the HIDs (6000K, Thanks EDeath)
Before:
After:

Fair bit brighter! There are a load of things I'd like to do with the car though, and I've tried to separate them into "must haves" and "wish list" - one is things I'm definite about doing, the other things I might fancy doing should funds and opportunity present themselves

Must Have
----------
Uprated ARBs
Lowering Springs
TTE Bumper
TTE Rear Lip
TRD Side Skirts
18 inch Aero Sport wheels
Uprated Discs & Pads
S/S Dials (Group Buy coming up Big Grin)
HKS Silent Exhaust or Blueflame
K&N Filter
Strut Brace stuff
**Full Paint Correction etc ** -- This one I do need, anyone know where I can get this done in Scottishland? Guildford & Christian are a bit far for me
LED up the interior lights

Wish List
---------
Supercharger or Turbo
Double DIN HU with all the fruit

Convince Me I Need Them?
--------------------------
Coilovers
Quick Shift
Braided Steel brake lines

That should do it for now I think... I'm open to suggestions for additions to the list - obviously these will be done over quite some time

Anything I missed? (Thanks for the suggestions so far guys; keep 'em coming)

Help! Quick question - does this look right?
by DaveEdin, 27-03-2018, 10:34 AM
Hi guys,

Just had the car serviced and the timing belt replaced

Now I'm no mechanic (heck, I don't even know if the belt in the picture IS the timing belt or not) but I stuck my head under the bonnet today to try and fit the HIDs I bought off Ed last month, and saw this...

Now it looks like the belt isn't on correctly? I'd have thought it should sit fully on the cog/pulley/thingy but appears to not be doing so?

Question 1 - Does this look right?
Question 2 - Am I ok driving like this?
Question 3 - Can someone explain exactly how I fit the darn HIDS - I must be a numpty cos everyone else can do it just fine! :cursing: Can't find a walkthrough or instructions either... :blushing:

Thanks in advance for any help!
Dave

My Battery is flat.
by fluff, 27-03-2018, 10:12 AM
Hello all.

I went to go out in the LS today. I havn't used it in a couple of weeks since buying the dog car (Honda Civic). Anyway, the smart locking was all slow and when you turned the smart thing to start the engine, nothing. I bought a battery booster from Halfords today and got it going with that. I took it for a run for an hour which seems to have put some charge back in the battery and I have also turned off the smart locking so it's not constantly looking for the keys which should save a bit more on battery power.

I had a look at battery chargers today and reading the instructions that came with them they all recomend that you remove the battery from the vehicle if your going to charge the battery. Now, with the dizzying array of electrical things in my LS, I don't want to spend the rest of the year setting everything back up to how I had it if I disconnect the battery. So, my question is, what would happen if I tried to charge the battery using a battery charger without disconnecting it from the car?

Many thanks and have a good weekend.

Jim.
