i'm applying for a new job, its nothing special, i've always been in retail and I quit my job in January having given over 7 years to JJB sports, in those 7 years I had given 110%, wherever possible, taken 3 promotions, none of which I had to apply for, but when I had problems with a couple of store managers and an area manager along the way I was unfairly treated and was left feeling that my constant 110% was all for nothing, and I failed to gather required evidence to consider a tribunal, so coupled with my stress and the fact that the new owners had pretty much ran the company into the ground, I walked out

I don't know if it was a stupid thing to do, as hard as it is for anyone to find work, I was risking being looked upon as someone who took emplyment for granted, but on the other hand, I was very unhappy and I suppose risking my own health if I stayed, so I made the decision to leave, with the intention of training for a new career.

As it happens I am as clueless today as I was when I left school as to what I want to do with my life with regards a rewarding career, so I thought best to head back into retail, as it is hard enough looking elsewhere for work, so I got a job working for sports direct, a company which blatantly flaunts the law, under paying staff and ignoring Sunday trading laws (the store i'm in anyway at the very least), and they take on all staff as part time on a 0 hour contract, thus offering absolutely no job security whatsoever, but as they say, a job is a job, if I was a college student after some beer money this would be ideal, but i'm not, so its not.

I have just applied for full time at Orange and passed the initial assessment, i'm not grasping at false hope as I have generally bad luck with interviews and online interview questions, being out of practice I assume, my aim this time is to get onto the bottom of this ladder that I do want to climb, with a full time permanent contract that comes with job security, one less worry in today's world

I just thought i'd share that with everyone, so please wish me luck

I have managed to get rid of all my "junk" on Fleabay apart from a few laptop bits so tonight after a 2 month break from selling decided to sell these bits until it wouldn't allow me to charge for P+P.
I was going to sell 2 1GB memory cards with a 99p start no reserve and if they had sold for this the "free" postage would have cost me around £1.50 for Recorded Delivery ( not including packing and going to the PO) plus take off the Final value Fee and I make a LOSS of around 55p.
Complete cr*p!

Soldering mains cable

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but can you solder mains cabling as I've only ever seen electricians using connector blocks?

Need to extend some wires for some wall lights as the stupid electrician didn't leave enough length to actually be able to connect them to a light fitting so wanted to know if I can solder an extra bit of wire on and seal with heatshrink or should I just use a connector block........

Anyone been to Miami?

Planning a trip to Miami later in the year, where are good places to stay? Been thinking of booking an apartment rather than a hotel, but these seem to be spread out all over the place so really have no idea where I should be looking..........

Henry Surtees - RIP

Don't know if anyone heard this but Henry Surtees (son of John Surtees) died on the weekend in a really freak racing accident.

Really tragic, quite an unbelievable accident - when I first saw it I thought he was in the car that crashed.........may he rest in peace.......:crying:

Is it worth me getting a RSA qualification? Level 1,2,3?

alot of jobs are asking for it, but not sure whether its worth the money and time?

what do you think, im defo going for the level 3 in counselling but thinking of topping my NVQ level 2 in business with rsa qualifications?

Service and MOT tomorrow - fingers crossed

Hi guys,

First time for me sending the Lex in for service and MOT since I bought it last July, it's got 78k on the clock and from what I can see nothing should need doing.
cambelt was done at 58k,
front discs+pads changed less at 73k
clutch+flywheel changed at 75k
Front tyres done at 76k.

Car seems to run fine although since the clutch and flywheel change it occasionaly suffers from the judder issue which i hear is quite common?
