State of the Nation

Dear members,

This is a 'state of the nation' post to bring all the members up to speed on the clubs situation.

Since we were born in 2009 we have gone from strength to strength as a club, and our attendances and stands at shows testify to that. However with the continued growth of Facebook more and more clubs are popping up on a daily basis.
Whilst our reputation has ensured that we continue to grow, the forum has become noticeably quieter.
The moderator team are of the opinion that we need to maintain the forum as its one of the things that sets us apart from other Facebook only based clubs.
However the forum needs funding in order to pay for the hosting, this has previously been covered by sponsorship from companies, and from the membership fees from our loyal members. Again though these have been decreasing as free advertising and ability to sell items through Facebook negates the need to become a member on the forum.

We as an Admin team now struggle to justify the need for paid areas of the forum as the original biggest selling point was ironically the ability to sell items. Also as a forum that accepts all models of Japanese cars we don't provide enough specific information on models to warrant locking workshop areas. This will make the situation worse as well have even less income coming in from the members who join as Outlaws and pay a membership fee.

So what can we do?

The current server we are on allows for heavy traffic use from not just members but also the search bots who keep us high in the search engine, but for this we then need to raise around £1000 a year for hosting,
We could lower our outgoings by moving to a free server, however traffic is then limited to the forum and could mean downtime, alternatively Find an intermediate option, however hosting costs would still apply.

So how do we increase income?
More sponsors and the opportunity to advertise on our stands at shows would help. Those who have been to shows with us will see some suppliers already do this, but we'd need more sponsors to maintain the forum.
Offer something more to become a member, however if we offer cut price tickets the cost has to come from somewhere.
We could offer members tickets at face value, and non members would then pick up the subsidy for maintaining our equipment that currently all attendees split evenly.

Another option is related to this email; Honesty. We hope if we are open with you the members, you would be willing to support the forum in whatever small way you can, and indeed even help provide alternative solutions.

So members, there it is the current situation with the club and the forum. Are you, our loyal members, willing to support to ensure we don't just become another Facebook group amongst the thousands of similar ones already there.

Thanks

Nissan GT-R Breaks the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for Fastest Drift
by News Feeder, 25-02-2024, 12:15 PM
Dubai, UAE - Nissan has set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the fastest ever drift. The record was broken with a speed of 304.96 km/hr and 30 degrees angle using a specially-tuned MY16 Nissan GT-R. Masato Kawabata, the Japanese drift champion and title holder for the Japanese drifting series, clinched the top spot from former record holder Jakub Przygo?ski of Poland. The record was set during a special event that took place at Fujairah International Airport, UAE.The record-breaking Nissan GT-R was developed with the support and coordination of Nismo specialists. It was tuned to 1380 HP in order to set the record, and adapted so all the power went to the rear wheels. The GT-R was prepared by GReddy Trust and tested extensively at Japan’s Fuji Speedway facility with Kawabata at the wheel. The car was set up for agility while maintaining stability and confidence-inspiring handling characteristics - essential when performing such challenging feats."Once again, Nissan has broken a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title and has made international history for the fifth time in the Middle East," said Samir Cherfan, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East. "The Nissan GT-R is one of the world’s most iconic supercars, proving time and again the incredible breadth of its capabilities, and has clearly demonstrated its performance leadership by beating the best drift cars out there. The fact that this achievement was set here in the UAE makes it even more special for our region. Setting this incredibly difficult world record was a clear demonstration of the excitement we are bringing to the Middle East with the Nismo brand."Fujairah International Airport was strategically chosen for its 3km long airstrip which was deemed to be sufficiently long enough for the challenge. From the outset, Nissan wanted to perform the drift at a speed of more than 300km/h and Kawabata, who leads in the Japanese drifting series for Team Tokyo, was chosen from a group of highly specialized competition drivers."We were very happy to be able to host such an exciting event," said His Excellency Mohammed Al Salami, Chairman of Fujairah International Airport, "Once again, the UAE has achieved another GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title. This great country is always accommodating when it comes to helping individuals and companies make history, and the staff at Fujairah International Airport were able to assist this record attempt while maintaining the airtight security required at facilities such as ours."Cherfan also thanked the airport personnel and its management for their support, saying, "Fujairah International Airport was a perfect fit for this world record attempt and the enormous levels of support we received from every level was invaluable. We had to set up a workshop in one of the airport’s hangars and had just five days to get everything ready including the specially tuned MY16 Nissan GT-R, spare parts, tyres and all the other equipment which required stringent security checks and processes. Without the dedication and tireless assistance of everyone at Fujairah International Airport we could not have achieved this, and I wish to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved."Mohammed Al Falasai from The Prodrift Academy UAE commented: "The Prodrift Academy UAE, in partnership with Nissan Middle East, is proud to be part of the Guinness World Records for the fastest drift. Hard work and dedication from all parties involved have enabled us to achieve our goal of setting this new record. Through our dedicated training programs, the Prodrift Academy and Nissan will continue to be at the forefront of drifting in the Middle East."GReddy Trust’s technicians worked on the specially tuned MY16 Nissan GT-R setup on site in the three days leading up to the event and had only three attempts to break the record as per strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records. Support was also provided by technicians and logistics personnel from the Prodrift Academy, Recaro for the driver’s seat, RAYS for the supply of special, lightweight alloy wheels and Toyo Tires for the drift tyres that were specially designed for this stunt. # # #About Nissan Motor Co. • Zakspeed and Nissan GT Academy Team RJN running GT-Rs • Two x GT3 spec GT-Rs to battle at the 'Ring • Michael Krumm returns to 24 Hour assaultYokohama, Japan - Nissan and NISMO has doubled its efforts for this year's Nürburgring 24-Hour with two GT-R NISMO GT3 entries set to fight for the win.Reigning Blancpain Endurance Series Champions, Nissan GT Academy Team RJN will be out to improve on its ninth place finish in last year's ADAC Zurich 24-Hour Race, but an additional GT-R will now be on track with newly signed customer team, Zakspeed. From its headquarters based on-site the Nürburgring, the famous German squad has triumphed three times at the famous endurance classic in 1999, 2001 and 2002.NISMO ambassador, former Super GT and FIA GT1 World Champion Michael Krumm is the first driver confirmed for this year's 24-hour assault."I'm really looking forward to getting back in the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 at the Nürburgring. The track is an enormous challenge and competing at the 'Ring is an incredible opportunity for any driver," Krumm said."Last year we had a strong run to finish in the top ten and despite the fact the competition in the GT3 category continues to get tougher, I'm confident the GT-R will be very competitive."The car clinched championships in Europe and Japan at the end of last year and has already been on the podium at Bathurst in Australia and led races and been on the podium in World Challenge in the US this year."GT Academy Team RJN and Zakspeed will contest both the Nürburgring six-hour qualification race on April 17 as well as the 24-hour. In addition, Zakspeed also will compete in this year's VLN Series starting on April 2."The Nürburgring is clearly one of the most demanding tracks in the world and a 24-hour race is an even greater challenge," Nissan's Global Head of Motorsport, Michael Carcamo said."The fact that the 150+ entries represent virtually every brand in the world certainly showcases the iconic nature of this race. Last year we finished ninth which was the highest finish by an Asian brand in GT3 in the event's history and we would certainly love to build on that."Having a customer team like Zakspeed with its amazing experience at the Nürburgring will certainly enhance our program and we're really looking forward to working with them."The Nordschleife circuit is renowned as one of the biggest challenges in global motorsport. The legendary circuit became a cult favorite for Nissan GT-R fans after Krumm's then record-breaking lap of 7 minutes, 8.679 seconds in 2013."The road car lap by Michael was the fastest ever for a volume production car around the Nürburgring at the time so the track is certainly a very important part of GT-R history and culture," Carcamo said."Our engineers have certainly taken inspiration from that and lessons learned from the experience have gone into improving both the road car and race car versions of the GT-R."The remaining drivers for both the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN and Zakspeed entries will be revealed in the near future. # # #ContactJane Johnstone Marketing Communications Director Global Motorsport Communications Nissan/NISMO Phone: +44 7979 710646 Email: [email protected] Ryan Marketing and PR Manager Phone: +1 678 644 0404 Email: [email protected]

2016 Nissan Sentra Achieves Top Safety Pick Plus rating by the Insurance Institute fo

by News Feeder, 23-02-2024, 02:03 PM
NASHVILLE – The newly freshened 2016 Infiniti QX60 premium crossover, when equipped with Forward Emergency Braking, has received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) after earning a "Superior" rating for front crash prevention.Along with "Good" ratings in the IIHS's five crashworthiness tests, the Infiniti QX60's "Superior" rating for front crash prevention is a result of its performance in both the 12 mph and 25 mph front crash prevention tests. In the 25 mph test, the QX60's impact speed was reduced by an average of 10 mph. The QX60 also received credit for forward collision warning components in its front crash prevention system that meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) criteria. To qualify for Top Safety Pick+, the IIHS's highest award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, plus an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention."Infiniti is obviously pleased to receive the exclusive IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award, which reflects the organization's strictest testing standards, for the 2016 QX60," said Randy Parker, vice president, Infiniti Americas. "The enhancements to the QX60 for the new model year, especially in the expansion of its advanced technology features, once again raise the standard in the premium crossover segment."The 2016 QX60 includes a wide range of changes that improve the seven-seat crossover's exterior design and its driving dynamics, while showcasing new features and technologies that improve comfort, convenience and safety. The QX60 adds to its already strong suite of advanced safety technology with Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) with pedestrian detection – a first for Infiniti – and the brand's exclusive Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) system.2016 Infiniti QX60 Safety, Security and Driving Aid Features All 2016 Infiniti QX60 models come standard with a host of active and passive safety features, starting with an Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors; roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags with rollover sensor for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows; and front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags. In addition, available technologies include:Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) with pedestrian detection – FEB utilizes advanced technology to calculate the distance between QX60 and the vehicle in front, as well as the speed of both vehicles, to detect the possibility of a collision and help mitigate or prevent it. The additional functionality offered by the QX60 FEB with pedestrian detection system applies this technology to help avoid or mitigate collisions with pedestrians as well.Backup Collision Intervention (BCI) – Alerts the driver to crossing vehicles and other large stationary objects to the rear when the transmission is in reverse. If necessary, the system is able to automatically to engage the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision.Around View® Monitor (AVM) – Parking is made easy with the addition of the new Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection (MOD). The system uses four wide-angle lenses – one on each side of the vehicle – to create a "birds-eye" view on the center console and give drivers a clear picture of nearby hazards during low-speed maneuvers. The 2016 QX60 is available now at Infiniti retailers nationwide.About Infiniti: Infiniti Motor Company Ltd. is headquartered in Hong Kong with sales operations in over 50 countries.
