Also with more and more bodyshops turning to water based materials, They react with some of the materials that you get from the local motorfactors and halfords as they have been made up for acrylic paints (Soon nearly all bodyshops will be using water based as it is something to do with the EU ruling on waste)

Bonney The thing with the bodyshop doing all the work is so they know is a proper job that has been done and it won't react with their materials.

Only know this from my dad working in a bodyshop, He says the amount of time you wast after someone has decided to do the prep work to try and put it right is unbeleivable, Thats why some bodyshops say that they will do all the prep work so a better quality finish is acheived and less problems in getting to this stage.

When I said I would do some of my own prep for a full spray, I meant things like removing lights, bumpers and other trim etc. (and refitting after) more than the actual paint prep. Though I did mention filler, admittedly! What I didn't mention, is that any products I did use, would be discussed with, and approved by, the bodyshop beforehand. This is, of course, an important point. I would leave most of the filling/sanding prep to the pros, as I only have a small amount of experience with these things.

I fully understand why some places will want to do ALL the work, but personally I am always looking to save a few quid, if it can be done without compromising quality.

I think the key here is communication though. Make sure that the bodyshop know exactly what you plan to do and are happy with it, as well as you fully understanding what they plan to do, and are happy with that.

I'd rather not swap my whole boot at the moment as there's no telling how long it would be till I find a spoiler in the right colour even on it's own. Don't wanna be driving round with a naked rear end for months.

But you'll be first on the list if/when it does come off :thumbup1:
