the soarer v8 isn't a straightforward swap to a vvti v8, a 3uz and a 2uz vvti swap has been done in the states but it requires completely different engine management.

edit: It will be almost as much of a ball ache as swapping into any other car.

Im not worried about wiring or management as it will have a link ecu no matter what it goes in just wondering if mounts etc would be any easier. Obviously i could just swap the heads on the non vvti to the vvti heads but looking at all my options to decide whats the best way to get myself a nice all round tract car that has a big v8 in it lol

A Soarer is way too big and heavy for a track car surely? The engine mounts are all the same as the block is (basically) the same between the VVTi and older engine. I've got Soarer engine mounts on my VVTi block (albeit backwards). And obviously the auto box in the V8 soarer will bolt straight onto the VVTi engine.

Well i thought that but the are on 1200kg in standard form so after removing all the stuff i wont need it wont be a heavy weight by any means. Cool so i can straight swap the engine as long as i sort the management out... hhmmmm really not sure what the best option is

I'm amazed at that figure, I'd have put them at least 400kg heavier than that.

Yeah me too and with the long wheel base it could be a winner. Question is v8 or 1jz TT?

V8 + supercharger. Ditch the heavy boat suspension and put some meister R's on there. Back seats out... job done Big Grin

Unless it's a UZZ32 it won't have all the heavy crazy air suspension. The figures I'm finding say more like 1600kg though. Wikipedia and some of the US sites that mention weight loss have much higher figures.

The V8 is lighter than the 1J engined model, as the 1UZ is all alloy but JZ has lots of cast bits.

Even at 1600kg its not a super heavyweight and with a supercharged v8 in it will still be a weapon. Will have to try and find some more accurate figures but all the electrics n seats etc have got to weigh a lot ditch them and put some nice light seats in and it could be a reasonable weight for track use
