Can a 4x4 pull an HGV?
Can a 4x4 pull an HGV?
We used an L200 and a Range Rover to tow coaches around all the time when they broke down in the yard, or needed moving and the keys were not available due to drivers going home with them in their pockets etc.. - they weigh in the region of 13 - 17 Tons depending on what make, never did any real harm to the 4X4's. Just make sure the air tanks are full so the breaks don't spring on. We used chain tow rope as normal rope would not be up to the job.
Air breaks (on coaches and trucks) automatically apply themselves if tank No3 becomes drained on a UK spec 3 tank set up. Tank 3 being the last of the reserve, by the time you start using that tank you know there is a major issue and will have pulled over.
That's amazing! And shows then that without all our health and safety rubbish a 4x4 could easily pull a truck a few feet to get it out of the way.

my bro works for a recovery company and they have had 4x4's pull their recovery trucks out of ditches so shouldn't see any problems
