OK, so you're gonna cut the ring gear off the 3S-GTE flywheel and weld it on the other way around, or are you going to chamfer the other side of it, as the starter motor enters from the other side? And what are you doing about the clutch release bearing? Smile

Sorry for all the questions, I have a vested interest!

I have read a lot on the conversion the best thread I have found so far are here

First one about the adapter plate you can get

http://www.v-eight.com/tech_forum/viewtopic.php?t=1114

One about clutches etc

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/performa...p-pix.html

And a project thread that gives load of info including stuff about how I will be doing my intake, it a supra but all the mechanics of the engine are identical

http://www.v-eight.com/tech_forum/viewtopic.php?t=99

There is loads of info on this site about the engines and various conversions but from what I have read with the right clutch, flywheel etc it all fits pretty well

Would the 3S-GE Altezza flywheel and starter not be a better option, its all the right way around then.

2tongues Would the 3S-GE Altezza flywheel and starter not be a better option, its all the right way around then.

Nope that doesnt fit at all, from what I have read the MR2 turbo flywheel bolts straight onto the ring gear and then use the MR2 clutch and your done.

Here are some pics of the tear down of the engine so far and some cleaning

Head pre clean

Yeah I've been reading that website a lot for the last year or so, Ed's supra was my main reason for getting into that engine in the first place!

No will hopefully have full coilovers on by the time i do the swap but the lexus engine is aluminium so fully loaded with box only weighs 350kg so not a heavy engine at all
