Lexus Misfiring, please Help!!!!
Lexus Misfiring, please Help!!!!
No i had this issue, i had all the plugs changed first, this will then need a reset from this if it still misfires then look at coil packs after you have had a pressure test done on the head.
thanks Gord for the info. Is there any reason I should have a pressure test?
Pressure tests are generally for cars with a blown headgasket mate, so I don't think so.
thanks Dark I thought that but was not too sure. Toxo I appreciate the offer but not sure if it good for the car to drive that far in its condition?, I should get the code today after 4pm which is when I have a mechanic coming to read the codes, I will obviously ask him to clear the codes first then go from there then Iwill post the codes on here
Guys the mechanic cam today and he cleared the codes and the engine light came straight back on and the code is P1305 which I looked up to be the igniter circuit fault bank 2 so moved it to bank 5 and the fault moved to bank 5. I had a spare coilpack from the issue I had last year with a coil pack and put that in place of the faulty one and voila misfire has gone thank goodness, thanks guys for your support and suggestions, without your help I would have probably spent money unnecessarily yesterday, glad it is fixed now.

before you go and buy a code reader check the air gap on the spark plugs and the condition of them, could also test the resistance of the coil pack/leads with a multimeter, if you get a high resistance the current will not flow and will not be able to jump the gap at the spark plug. if you can lift the coil packs away from the plugs while its running you may hear the offending coil with the spark being very weak, you may find the one that is down and not have to waste the money
