James S Look forward to reading your thread mate, how much experience at this sort of thing do you have? When funds allow I would like to do this conversion too. Have you had a quote for a drive in drive out conversion from Thor? Because this is beond my level of DIY! Lol!
Good luck with it! Smile

Dont have a huge amount of experience, I have stripped several cars recently for parts so have learnt quite a lot and I luckily have a Lexus mechanic living next door to me who will check over everything for me which will help.
I havent asked Thor that question but I doubt it will be as cheap as doing it yourself by a long way, bearing in mind their pre built engines are well over £4000 and mine will have cost me £2000 if I do a fully forged rebuild on it or about £750 with just doing a normal rebuild on it,

The most costly part is the gearbox conversion although I am finding more companies now that can provide the parts I need for cheaper and I was lucky getting the gearbox for £80 but will still cost around £800 to get the clutch etc sorted, but bearing in mind that is a clutch that will hold upto 500LbFt of torque it's not that bad.

Just had my mate come over and do a quick mop of the paintwork, he is going to do it again next week once the new front bumper is on but here is a quick pic. He also mopped the headlights for me so they are now very clean :-)

I wouldn't go as far as saying 'designed to work with' it, but it is one of the two that can properly control the vvti and fly by wire throttle...

Ok its one of the only ones i have found that lists the 1uzfe as being compatible including the vvti control and can be made to work with the rest of the hem wiring on the car

A bit of an updat, i have done a few bits to the car whilst im saving for the rebuild on the engine, decided to go for forged con rods so need to save up a bit more before i do the switch.
But i have done some simple bits ti the car, changed all my bulbs for white leds including the dash to make that look a bit nicer, got a bargain japspeed exhaust so stuck that on to give it a bit of noise n relieve some boredom and then got some bargain HSD coilovers and stuck them on Big Grin

Have also carbon wrapped the bonnet and boot and will be doing the roof and wing mirrors soon. Hopefully will get the engine rebuild started soon si will update on that Smile
