Came to fit my amp by past and new stereo to day and found the cable didnt look right to me?

Surely the black earth should connect to the blue cable (which i fitted!)?
looks like the guy who i bought it off earthed the black cable to the body and maybe earthed the head unit behind the dash some where?

Am i right to link the black to blue (didnt have a black socket to fit but its in the right hole!).

That might actually work with some stereos. I've had one that worked fine for ages without me realising it had no ground, it was earthing through the body of the stereo. Always best to have a dedicated ground wire though!

Can see that being so, but as this is in a full plastic fitting kit for the double din i doubt it will be grounded through the body of the stereo.

That's what I had to do with andymunros stereo. We had to earth it to one of the bolts that holds the frame in.

So do connect them up or will just connecting the open ended spade to the car body be enough, still dont know how the stereo will be grounded without them connected?

you need to connect the earth yes, just a ring crimp on the end and then to one of the 4 bolts that holds the frame that carries the stereo and aircon to the dash.

Hi All, I am new owner of IS200sport RH. Owner said that right speaker doesn't work and sometimes it is active when car shakes (bad road etc.) it doesn't work at the moment and it does drive me crazy Sad would you know how to check what is wrong please?
head unit?
Wires
speaker
is there any amp in this car?

I would not like to de-install half of dash board and door etc.
Thanks for any suggestion.

Hi Iwo, first thing i would check would be connections to the speaker in the door, making sure they are all ok.

While you have the door card removed get a 1.5 volt AA battery and some wire and connect it across the speaker terminals to see if it makes a noise, the speaker cone should also move in and out when you make contact with the battery.

If that all looks good then i,d remove head unit and check that there's a good connection between door speaker and the end of the cable that goes into the head unit using a multimeter

As for amps, if your is200 is an SE or Sport then yes, the basic S model does not have an amp.

Hope this helps, Jomo.

Hello guys, I had a go on Saturday to fit my HU and I got stuck with the badly designed bypass lead which has got no power (red) and illumination (orange) going from harness to the box as seen on previous post from other members. What would be best to get power into my HU please?

Much appreciated any help!!
