R154 unless you have money falling out of your ears, in which case shell out for a V160 6 speed. I'd go with an R154 from a manual Soarer though, bolts right up to a 1jz. I think SamB used GS300 mounts to fit the 1j to his car.

think this is going to be not as cheap as i thought, was hoping to get a decent turbo set up for 2-3 k but might as well as buy a supra or 3000gt and keep the is200 as my daily car and leave engine standard

You need a plan. You need to know exactly what you want, how much it will be and then add an extra 10-20% for when it goes wrong. I spent ages looking at 1j conversions, weighing up how much everything cost vs weight, power and whatnot.

I've settled on a 1uz-fe vvti from a Mk4 LS400. I don't think I'll have the parts ready until this time next year though. If you don't know one end of a spanner from the other, I'd recommend getting a different car. The amount of money it will cost to get an IS200 into rapid territory is closing in on a half decent S15. Failing that, go and get an altezza. ~210hp naturally aspirated and there are lots of turbo 3sge engines out there, so you have lots of room to expand. You can stay on the standard box as well.

And then take your plan and double the cost for all the extra time and parts that you will find then need upgrading afterwards

I've got no idea about remapping altezzas, torqueGT might be able to point you in the right direction of a modified altezza.

altezza's best option would be to turbo it there's enough info around for turboing the 3S-GE

1JZ will cost you around £750 for a complete engine with ecu/loom/turbos etc but you will want either R154 or V160/161 as the W58 is terrible. You will require 2 GS300 mounts from one side and you then have to modify one of them (i forget which side it is) to get it to fit.

You can't remap an Altezza either, it's either piggyback ecu or full standalone, just like other Toyotas.

I'm not sure who put the thought in your mind that this would be cheap Wink

I saw an advert for "toxo engineering" claiming to have swapped a 25 litre merlin engine into an IS200 for 55p and some tesco vouchers. :whistling:
