Matt_C I must admit, I thought about the Altezza, but much prefer the smoothness of the 6 pot IS lump, and all the other gubbins in the car. Hmm, so either switch up to the 300, or chuck WAY too much money into the engine bay of the 200 I guess...
Also, a 6 pot engine sounds nicer than a 4 pot, unless the 4 pot is a boxer engine of course.

IS300 + v160 gearbox is similar money to a properly supercharged IS200. Better, similar horsepower.

The Altezza is a smooth engine I bet you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in everyday driving. Just don't get the auto box version they are seriously slow beasts.

Ah, gotcha. Seeing as they are both 2JZ's, I presume (possibly wrongly!) it's a simple swap?

To be fair, I never test drove an Altezza; I'm just going on what I've read in reviews and on the net. I know I instantly fell in love with the smoothness of the I6 in the IS, along with it's quiet and understated, yet lovely burble

a bit of moding is needed as the shifter holder needs shortening a little and you need to install the clutch peddle etc, and wouldl need a standalone ecu too, simple on paper expensive in reality lol, second hand v160 are around 3k, and around 6.5k brand new thats just for the boxConfusedhock: theres a fair few americans that have done it but they have all the manual setup there alreadyConfusedad:

It fits in the IS300 transmission tunnel without modification, you will need to get a prop fabricated and trick the ECU into thinking it's in drive.

apparently propshafts from toyota sequiola's are a direct fit for the v160 and is300, saves on fabricating one up but with import costs probably not much between the prices
