Charger electric clutch installation
Charger electric clutch installation
I recently found a replacement charger and it has the electric clutch still attached. I was going to swap the pulleys around so that my original tte pulley would go on the replacement charger, but by the sounds of it the bearing has gone on it. So I was thinking of wiring the electric clutch up instead of drilling and screwing the two parts together.
The only thing is that I have read so many posts on this subject I have confused myself on what to do next. I have a basic understanding of electrics and that's as far as if goes. I know that I need a ground and a 12v supply to engage the electric clutch, but what can I take it from, a sensor, a/c pump ?.The last thing I want to do is set fire to my wiring loom.
Do you want the charger to be operated by a switch on the dash, throttle position or by RPM's??
The charger can be fed via a relay direct from the battery - with the relevant fuse.
Exactly as Phil says. Decide how you want it activated first
Was thinking of doing it off the throttle, so when I touch the throttle, clutch engages. I was thinking coming off the throttle motor somewhere if that's possible. If not I was thinking of having the clutch engaged perminantly?
You could do it off the throttle but not off the current system, easiest way if fit a nitrous style throttle position switch.
I incidentally have one spare in my garage I could sell lol
Nothing is ever easy is it, if I need that switch I'll give you a shout. So I will probably now engage the clutch permanantly ,i,ll take power of the ignition, altenator, efi if possible.
Yeah the simplest way is just to have it on when the car is on.
Just wondering what else is required to wire clutch up to the throttle, thinking about it, if clutch is permanently on,wouldn't I run the risk of it burning it out?
just a tps switch, thats it
If that spare one of yours is still available, that would be great
