Hi all, are any special tools needed to remove the steering wheel? A pulled etc?

Is there a guide somewhere?

I need to take it off as the block in-between the wheel and shroud is loose and making noise.

Anyone know what it is?

You probably could use a puller, but I've always just undone the nut, then wound it back on 2 turns and yanked the steering wheel towards me until it came loose (apart from the first time, when I smacked myself in the face with the wheel when it came off).

You could be a bit more scientific and tap it from behind with a mallet or something I suppose? Smile You only need to loosen it from the splines.

I don't imagine it will be too hard to get off, shouldn't need any special tools etc. I have never had any problems in other (similar aged Toyota) cars, though not tried an IS. Though I will soon, as mine is very worn and I have a lower mileage one to fit.

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

Ho guys ok I tried the yank but no chance. Borrowed a puller and it popped straight off. The loose part is for the airbag activation as works like a child proof bottle cap somehow it came a bit loose. Installation instructions are on the unit to just tightened if a bit and is ok for now.
