What we did today
by FirebirdPhil, 22-07-2018, 10:06 AM
At the last Santa Pod meet we were filmed by "Garage.tv" but the wind made a mess of the short audio interview bit - so they asked if we could re-do the film but this time do a proper feature, a bit like a magazine shoot but to be screened on S. American TV and of course their Web based TV channel. Thing is they asked us last night:Chair: thanks for the notice guys - but where there is a will there is a way, so last night was car polishing night:p well it needed doing.

In Europe they are pretty much unknown obviously, but in S. America the channel is very well known (like Top gear) and covers just about anything and everything car and motor sport related. So much so the Police don't worry that much when their caught hanging out of the passenger window with a Panasonic HD film camera............. You know where this is going:laugh:

So there's us driving along what we think is classed as a "private" dual carriagewayConfusedmoke: with the film crew on the outside lane and us on the inside, getting some wicked shots of the car, slow, fast, cruising etc. I look in the rear view mirror and there's a Police car. Round our way you don't see one for ages and as soon as there is a camera man hanging out of the passenger window bang there is a darn police carConfusedhock: We pull over so both cars are driving on the slow lane and the police car went by, we got a slapped on the wrist sign from the driver but he was smiling!!!!! So very lucky this time:tongue_smilie:

Saving grace was we were only doing 30MPH up to 50MPH because the camera car couldn't keep up with the MR2!! It was only a Polo oil burner hire car.

So with this done we all went to the tattoo studio to film Heather and PJ tattooing customers and a good interview with Heather about tattooing - this will be screened in S. America TV and web TV:thumbup1: So a busy morning and now we have a long fully booked day ahead - well Heather is fully booked I have a couple of hours left of freedom.

Spacers - HELP
by Imi, 22-07-2018, 07:52 AM
Hi people,

Need some help on what size spacers to get, the IS is lowered on coils, but the wheels look tucked in at the back, so i want to get them to fit in line with the rear arch, i will be rolling the arches anyway and lowering the car a bit more.

My current setup is Inovit ST6 alloys 18x7.5, with 40 offset all round (me thinks) so what size spacers should i get??

I have seen some H&R-Hubcentric spacers 20mm though, (had a word with Simon at Charlesworth motors he says 15mm would be better)

what would i need?? 20mm or 15mm at the rear? and 10mm at the front??

help appreciated

I have seen the offset guide, but am a bit clueless on it..
thanks in advance

Got pulled yesterday.......
by parthiban, 22-07-2018, 07:38 AM
.....and unfortunately not in a good way! :tongue_smilie:

Was sitting in a queue of cars at the lights, all pulled away as it went green, suddenly hear a siren and see blue lights in the rear view mirror. Pull over straight away thinking he just needed to get past, but then he stopped behind me so was a bit confused as to what it was for.

As I've always been told, jumped straight out of the car and went over to the policecar before they even had a chance to get out, and asked what the problem was. He replied "you tell me"

So even more confused I reply I honestly have no idea, is there something wrong with my car? And then he goes "were you wearing a seatbelt?" So I say yes I was, I just took it off when I got out of the car. And he says "I saw your belt hanging down"

So again I say, I don't mean to criticise your eyesight or anything but I literally just took my seatbelt off before I got out of the car, so I know I was wearing my belt. At this point he immediately tried to change the subject (which made it obvious it was a slightly dubious stop) and asked whether it was my car. Said it was, and I've owned it since new.

Again he was stuck, so he asked if I had my license. Gave it to him, and he called it in over the radio. At this point I think his partner knew that they had pulled over the wrong guy and got a bit chatty saying we've just got to make sure when we see something and stuff, to which I said that's fair enough, I've got nothing to hide so not too bothered. Got the all clear over the radio and they let me go Smile

Not really that bothered about the whole experience, in fact I actually said to the policemen that I don't mind getting pulled over every so often if it means getting more uninsured drivers and stuff off the road.

The only suspicion I have though is that I don't think that's why they pulled me over. I wasn't in a great area at the time, so even though my car's old, in that area it was one of the nicer ones. And when they came over one of the policemen had a good look around the car through the windows, as though they were looking for an excuse to search it (random drugs search maybe?)

Either way just an interesting story I thought I'd share as it must be a common experience with us all being outlaws and all!
