I have a list of toyota engine codes here guys.
The first numeric characters specify the engine block's generation
The next one or two letters specify the engine family
The suffix (separated by a dash) specifies the features of the engine:
A Valvematic variable lift intake head
B Twin SU-style side-draft carburetors
After 2000 indicates E85 Ethanol fuel.[citation needed]
C Carburated / California Emissions Controlled
D Twin Downdraft carburetors
E Electronic Fuel injection
F Economy narrow-angle valve DOHC
G Performance wide-angle valve DOHC
H High compression like 9.8:1 (example: 5E-FHE)
High pressure charged (example: 2L-THE)
I Single-point fuel injection
J Autochoke (Early models) or unknown pollution control
L Transverse
M Philippines' market (meaning unknown)
N CNG fuel
P LPG fuel
R Low Compression (For 87 and below octane fuel)
S Swirl intake (1980s)
SE Direct injection (1990s)
T Turbocharged
U With Catalytic converter Japan-spec emissions
V Common Rail Diesel Injection (D-4D)
X Atkinson cycle (typically also indicates a Hybrid engine, as Toyota only uses the Atkinson cycle with hybrids)
Z Supercharged
so a 1G-FE would represent first generation, with the family G, then it is narrow angled valves and electronically injected.
For asi it qould be 1st generation, UZ family, narrow angled valves and electronically injected fuel. (1uzfe)
For stav it would be 1st generation, G family wide angle valves, turbocharged and then electrionically fuel injected.
Hope this helps anyone
Dont forget to rep
and so it continues.......................
I have started driving the Lex again :biggrin::biggrin:
Finally got my car back on Saturday after 7 weeks of it being sat at TGT and took it for a blitz today. I haven't missed it that much to be honest but after my little spin in it today it made me realise how much i do love driving it.
Been driving Sarah's little 1 litre Yaris for the last 2 weeks, and although its not that exciting the fuel economy on her's is just great! Sarah will be using mine during the week for work and i will use her's. and we will swap back at weekends. Most of the time when we are together i drive anyway.
I know some of you will ask why my car has been sat at TGT for the last 7 weeks well i will explain........car was put in for service and i had a really strange knock coming from the back. While i was in Hospital and for a few weeks after the car just sat there as i didn't have money to throw at it and James was kind enough to keep it inside and dry.
During the 5th week we discovered what was making the knocking noise, it was a rear rubber bush that is in the bottom of the hub. Both sides had gone! simple, just get new bush's from lexus right? WRONG!!! lexus don't sell these bush's individually, they will however very kindly sell you the whole hub :Chair:
Wasn't going to go down that route! James very kindly spoke to a polybush company and gave them the measurements and after they checked their whole stoke it looked like a subaru bush might do the job. one was ordered and a few days later arrived. It didn't fit so it was back to square one! They said they can custom make them but would need 100+ quantity ordered for them to make them. sod that! Then i discovered a guy selling the bush's on ebay for £50 each, and i needed both sides. The guy has obviously dicovered a similar bush that does the job and probably costs him 50p to get. I didn't like it but it saved me buying new hubs from lexus. This has been a complete pain in the **** but its finally done and the knock has gone.
While it was at TGT i also had a service, O2 sensor replaced, top ball joint, bottom ball joint and my EDFC unit adjusted.
While it was up on the ramps i discovered that i have some rather serious inside tyre ware so i guess its back to WIM
and so it continues.......................
Sorry for the essay, and to sum it up i love my lexus! lol

if anyone is near a large newsagent i have an odd request!!!!
can someone look in DIVER magazine and somewhere about 3/4 way through is a full page advert for a digital camera and the water proof housing.
The advert has a row of awards going down 1 side of the page - I think it is near the camera or photography feature in this months magzine.
if might be a Fuji but I am not sure.
Someone was meant to buy the magazine for me and bring it over but they forgot the magazine on the plane ! :Chair:
cheers!

Ok guys, i wanted to get a portable dvd player for the kids and with decent ones costing £70/80+ i thought i might as well spend a bit more and get a notebook which i could obviously be able to get more use of. Whats the deal with Windows 7? Is it stable enough yet, anyone had any experience with it or should i stick with XP/Vista.....
