We began this journey last season and we were delighted to provide electric vehicles and charging points in Berlin, a journey we look to continue at the final this year in Milan. The great relationship we have with UEFA means we have been able to provide something long lasting and positive to both cities during our first two seasons as a sponsor of the UEFA Champions League."Poor air quality and increasing greenhouse gas emissions are very real challenges facing cities all over the world, including Milan. Zero emission vehicles provide a tangible solution to these challenges, and the fast charge stations built by Nissan in Milan will be decisive regarding the take up of all-electric mobility and will be left behind after the final for the public."Today's announcement marks an important step in the brand's commitment to making zero emission technology accessible to all and paves the way for Nissan's Intelligent Mobility vision, a 360-degree approach to a smart automotive future announced at this year's Geneva Motor Show.Pursuing a goal of zero emission vehicles and zero fatalities on the road, Nissan's "Intelligent Mobility" vision is designed to guide Nissan's product and technology pipeline, anchoring critical company decisions around how cars are powered, how cars are driven, and how cars integrate into society.Nissan's project in partnership with A2A promotes clean, sustainable mobility in a significant metropolitan area of Europe by offering one of the most advanced infrastructure networks. Last week the Milan Town Council inaugurated the Nissan project for the installation of 12 rapid chargers on municipality area in partnership with A2A. The initiative represents the largest fast charge infrastructure installation in a single city in Italy. This week two rapid chargers will be installed at Malpensa airport and a further three at Linate airport, one of which will remain after the UEFA Champions League Final.Nissan was the first automaker to launch a mass-market, 100 percent electric vehicle with the introduction of the Nissan LEAF in 2010. Fast forward to 2016, and the Nissan LEAF remains the best-selling all-electric vehicle of all time, globally. Earlier this year, Nissan reaffirmed its status as a leader in the development of zero emission technology with the launch of the Nissan LEAF 30 kWh which goes 26 percent further than the previous model, delivering up to 250km of driving range on a single charge, beating all of its competitors within the segment. About Nissan in Europe Nissan has one of the most comprehensive European presences of any overseas manufacturer, employing more than 14,500 staff across locally based design, research & development, manufacturing, logistics and sales & marketing operations. Nissan sign record holder Clarence Seedorf for UEFA Champions League Final
by News Feeder, 11-04-2024, 04:27 PM
Four-time winner Clarence Seedorf is Nissan's UEFA Champions League Final ambassadorSeedorf "looking forward to an all-Madrid final in Milan" MILAN – At this year's UEFA Champions League Final, Nissan – the Official Global Automotive Sponsor of the UEFA Champions League – will be joined by UEFA Champions League record-holder, Clarence Seedorf. As the only player to have won the UEFA Champions League with three different clubs, Seedorf shared his thoughts on joining Nissan's activities ahead of this year's Final in Milan:"I'm pleased to join Nissan in celebrating their sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League and what should be an exciting Final in Milan. One thing I know is that humans like excitement, adventure, adrenaline and speed – and football is all of that. Nissan has embraced the UEFA Champions League, as I did during my career, representing the values of innovation, technology and quality."Seedorf heaps praise on the Finalists and their corresponding managers, ahead of the UEFA Champions League Final:"It's great to see a new-era for Atlético Madrid; they've given full support to their coach, and Simeone has shown that he was probably underestimated as a player, tactically. And although it's early days for Zidane, having come in as manager half way through the season, there's clearly been an improvement, so he's obviously doing the right things for the team and is getting the correct support to take the team where they are."Having played and coached in Milan for many years, Seedorf has fond memories of the capital and offers his advice to the players ahead of the hotly anticipated match:"At the end, only two teams make the Final, and even if it's two Spanish clubs it's a very international match as on the pitch they are very diverse, with players from all over the world. I think it will be a very exciting match. Ultimately the two teams who make it to the Final deserve to be there, and I'm looking forward to it. My advice to players is to enjoy every single moment of this game, and in general of the whole tournament journey, because it doesn't happen often to experience such a great moment and atmosphere."Jean-Pierre Diernaz vice president, Marketing, Nissan Europe said: "The UEFA Champions League Final in Milan will mark the climax of a really exciting second season as Official Global Automotive Sponsor of the UEFA Champions League. Clarence personifies what it means to be an 'engineer of excitement' and a true innovator of the game."The partnership with UEFA has enabled us to highlight our commitment to innovation and excitement. Following our survey that highlighted football as more exciting than *** for Europeans, we launched the world's first ever Excitement Index, exploring the science behind what excites football fans and culminating in the creation of a scientific formula that identifies the key elements that make football so exciting." Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo displayed at launch of new Grand Turismo Sport g
by News Feeder, 08-04-2024, 02:13 PM
LONDON – The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo made its first-ever appearance outside of China at the Copper Box in Olympic Park, London, during the launch of a new game, Grand Turismo Sport.Displayed alongside seven other full-size concept cars, the largest ever gathering of GT concept vision cars in one place, the vehicle provides a visualization of what a high performance Infiniti could look like in the future. The car was developed through close collaboration with the creators of Gran Turismo®, the racing game franchise developed by Polyphony Digital Inc. that has sold more than 72 million copies worldwide. The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo will be featured in the new GT-Sport game when it is released in November. The Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo is a project that started as an ambitious global Infiniti Design competition to "design a pure Infiniti GT car". The winning model was born from the theme put forward by Infiniti's Design team in Beijing. Part beauty, part beast, its shape is powerful, sensual and audacious – a mix of a track machine and the dream of our Chinese design team to create an ambitious racing language for Infiniti. The process of developing the design of the Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo started with hand sketching, then refined digitally, refined again by hand sculpting, and then returned to digital for final refinement. This project went much further than being a mere design exercise. It included thorough examinations and calculations of technical features such as aerodynamics and engine performance. The front mid-ship/trans-axle powertrain enables the finely distributed 45:55 front/rear weight balance that fills users with the joy of driving by actively drifting the rear.As for aerodynamics, the under-floor airflow control, front and back diffusers, and uniquely shaped rear spoiler enable this car to demonstrate high performance without compromising the impact of the body design.Read more about the Infiniti Concept Vision Gran Turismo here. In 1997, Gran Turismo (GT) introduced to the world the ability to realistically recreate automobiles in 3DCG and allow gamers to virtually experience them on their home consoles. Since then, the GT series has recorded a total of 76.74 million copies (*), breaking records and winning awards on the way. Nissan welcomes the measures announced by The Queen that will encourage the growth of autonomous vehicle technology in the UKNissan Qashqai with ProPilot to be built in UK from 2017LONDON – The proposed new legislation for the insuring of self-driving cars will have a significant role in the adoption and integration of the breakthrough technology that can help reduce traffic congestion and vehicle incidents on UK roads, as well as creating new jobs in the UK's high-tech economy.Nissan has already confirmed that the refreshed Nissan Qashqai will be the first Nissan car in Europe – and the first UK-manufactured car – equipped with autonomous technology in 2017 with ProPilot. The introduction marks an important step in the brand's commitment to make autonomous drive technologies available to the mass market. It will be produced at the company's flagship manufacturing plant in Sunderland and sold in the UK as well as markets across Europe. The multi-award winning Qashqai is the UK's fifth-highest selling car.ProPilot, Nissan's stage one autonomous drive technology, enables the car to drive autonomously and safely in a single lane in heavy traffic conditions on highways. The introduction of ProPilot in Europe next year is the first step in Nissan's longer-term commitment to launch a range of vehicles with autonomous drive capabilities by 2020.In 2018 "multiple-lane control" in Nissan cars will allow them to autonomously negotiate hazards and change lanes while driving. 2020 will see the launch of "intersection autonomy," which will allow cars to navigate busy city junctions and heavy urban traffic without driver intervention. The Renault-Nissan Alliance has already announced it will launch more than 10 vehicles with autonomous drive technology by 2020 in the United States, Europe, Japan and China. The technology will be installed on mainstream, mass-market cars at affordable prices, with a focus on accessibility to all customers. This week Nissan also marked the opening of a Joint Research Centre for Intelligent Mobility at Tsinghua University (Department of Automotive Engineering) in Beijing, China. The collaboration will work on the research and development of electric vehicle and autonomous drive technologies for the Chinese market."Any new legislation, such as we've seen announced, that supports the adoption and integration of autonomous vehicle technologies, is a positive for the UK," said Paul Willcox, chairman of Nissan Europe. "Autonomously-equipped vehicles will improve the safety and well-being of drivers, with fewer collisions and reduced traffic congestion. The UK economy can also benefit, by playing a pivotal role in a global industry estimated to be worth £900billion by 2025. Nissan is about taking innovative, premium technologies and making them accessible and affordable to the general public. We're excited to be debuting the first phase of our autonomous driving technology, ProPilot, on the Nissan Qashqai in 2017 – one of the UK's best-selling cars and a model produced right here at our Sunderland plant."Mr Willcox added: "The introduction of ProPilot technology will be an evolution not a revolution as the building blocks for this are already in place in many of our cars today through our Safety Shield Technology."Images of the Nissan Qashqai autonomous car concept car debuted at Geneva Motor Show are available here.About Nissan's Piloted Drive strategy The stage one autonomous drive – Piloted Drive 1.0 – will give the Nissan Qashqai "single lane control" in heavy traffic conditions on highways and represents an important milestone in the company's effort to launch a range of vehicles with autonomous drive technologies by 2020.Related Stories: Autonomous 'Piloted Drive' Nissan Qashqai to be launched in Europe next yearNissan powers into the future at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show # # #
