No, it's just a possiblity. My 14yr old one only failed because it had filled up with oil. To be honest the battery, alternator and charging circuit are all very closely linked a fault with any of them can exhibit the same symptoms.

I know what you mean toxo, but the alternator doesn't seem to be a common item to go on the IS200, so I would still suspect the battery as the prime candidate.

Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Yep mine did that when my battery last died, new battery sorted it. I'm assuming it's the same again.
