And if you go link push the boat out for the xtreme. Full 8 cylinder control and in built knock detection.

The storm is for 4 cylinder so needs doubling up.

FOOKIN HELL!

i think ill look at trying to use the LS400 ECU in that case. Im not looking to tune the motor, just leave it stock so i dont think paying that much for an standalone ECU is going to help me or my wallet. Altho i think im gonna need to get me the wiring diagrams of both cars so i can work out whats what

The engine mounts are a reasonable price i suppose if it makes the mounting of it easier.

wont be looking to do the conversion till at least the end of year once my race season is over but im looking to get various parts together ready to do it to make it as quick as possible

Have a look at my thread in project cars. I've very nearly got an R154 mated to a rebuilt 1UZ... it's not cheap! The V8 has never been mated to anything other than an auto box in stock form and the only off the shelf adaptors that actually work properly are £1500 (including a clutch conversion, flywheel, etc).

If I were doing it in an IS200 I would do something like buying an LS400 for £500, breaking it for parts thus making your engine/ECU free, then I would wait for a supercharged IS200 to turn up, take the S/C off and flog it as people will pay crazy amounts for them and that will greatly offset the cost of the car! Have you already got an IS?

I've got a full VVTi LS400 workshop manual & the engine wiring diagrams (thanks to mattlaw) if you do decide to go down that route.

Is it realy that much?????

I think i may just end up with an LS400 then because im only looking to spend 2k max on the conversion and less if i can get away with it, thats including buying the donor car

looks like thats the plans out the windown then

You can mate it to a W58 box (shifter is at least in the right place) cheaply using the KS Racing kit on eBay... but then you can't increase power over stock - and custom exhaust manifolds will do that!

Dunno mate, I don't do autos so I've never looked into it. You could use an older V8 too (non VVTi) and a W58 would be alright

it can be done using an SC/GS/LS400 ecu for that engine, with either vvti or non vvti and it will be fully OBDII compliant.

It's easier if you have an IS300 though. Plus if you want vvti your car needs to be a 2001+ or the plugs will be wrong.

See here:

http://oldschool.co.nz/2011/forum/index....-non-vvti/

the IS300 auto can BOLT UP USING NO CUSTOM PARTS including the prop, if you use a combination of the v8 5 speed auto and IS300 5 speed auto, as they are exactly the same gearbox. The v8 has slightly stronger clutches and a slightly different fitting for the bit at the back, so you need to swap a few components. Also, use the IS300 speed sensor.

edit: you will need the IS300 rear diff too.

TL;DR buy an IS300 and convert that.
