Help me understand something regarding boost...
by jimxms, 31-05-2019, 05:18 PM
OK, I've read in a few places now that the PSI readouts you see on boost gauges are not an indication of how much power you're making (in a roundabout way), but how much boost is LEFT after the engine can consume what it can.

So if my boost gauge is reading 9PSI, this is 9PSI of boost that the engine has not used. Therefore if I help my engine to breath better by doing mods like cams, manifold, decat...etc, my boost reading will actually go down because the engine is able to consume more of that boost - but I will make more power.

If this is true (which i guess it is), then why would I (or anyone for that matter) want to generate more boost if their engine is not making full use of what they are already making?

Probably a n00b question, but its buggin me

As a couple guys have been told:

My dad has been taken in to hospital last Thursday after having been feeling very very weird since the Tuesday.

His symptoms include(d): Drifting between being conscious and unconscious for about 24 hours, he can't walk properly, can't stand up properly either, major headache, pain in the back of the neck, he said he feels like he's had all his oxygen drained from him, as when he uses any of the muscles in his body he instantly feels faint and dizzy...

So we got an ambulance to take him to hospital on Thursday...
He's had a CT scan, an MRI scan, both of those have came back as clear so it can't be anything like stroke, etc..., the doctors just have no idea whatsoever is wrong with him.

So yeah, hope he may be on later, but yeah, get well soon Dad Smile

Thanks guys.

I'm a lurker no more!
by speedfreek, 30-05-2019, 04:30 PM
Thought I should probably introduce myself now I have started posting (about time!)

I'm Lee, go by the name of speedfreek on loads of forums.. SXOC, LOC etc.. and I drive an IS200 SE! Wahey!

Cracking forum you have here, I know where I should have spent my membership money that's for sure!

Gratuitous shots of my car, only notable mods so far are:
  • Installed a Sony media receiver head unit
  • Ditched the Man U tax disc holder for a nice anodised black jobby
  • Brodit iphone holder

It also has R33 GTR wheels on it - but will be selling those soon as however awesome the wheels are, they aren't to my taste.

Fuse issue? HELP!
by bounty`, 30-05-2019, 10:05 AM
:whistling:Me and a friend fitted a double din unit in my IS200 a month or two back, and a couple of weeks ago, it powered itself off, and wouldnt come back on again.

It's getting power because the red led light still comes on but it doesnt boot up and the screen stays black.

Yesterday I removed the 7.5A 'TV' fuse from the fuse panel in the passenger side footwell and although it wasnt blown, the terminals were a brown colour on one side. I replaced the fuse but to no avail Sad

Could it be that the fuse on the back of the unit has blown? If so what kind of fuse is it? (the same kind of micro fuse as in the fuse panel etc?)

After 2 weeks of no music, and quite regularly having to make hour long journeys, the motorway is becoming a VERY tedious place!!

Project: Moley's new hoose!
by DaveEdin, 29-05-2019, 06:44 PM
Well, Moley has his new place but no internet yet, so I thought I'd share the pics he texted me...

Soon as he's hooked up I'm sure he'll provide more pics and info...

Disclaimer: For the next 12 months my funds are going to be fairly low so there wont really be anything major in this until after then, but for now i'll post up the little cosmetic bits i'll do just to keep my modding bug at bay Big Grin

So, i decided to debadge the back of my civic and also stuck up my OJC sticker on my back window.

Here's a picture before the badges were removed

Ipad 1 or Ipad 2??
by jasons, 29-05-2019, 02:00 PM
Not knowing too much about the specs or these but if you had the chance to buy either of these two, which would be better?

Ipad 1- 64gb
or
Ipad 2- 16gb running iOS 5

both are the same price.

I already have a desktop and a laptop, so this is more for browsing on the move, movies etc.

Thoughts?

Reasonable rotary polisher
by clossie, 29-05-2019, 11:56 AM
I'm looking at getting a rotary polisher to take some of the grunt work out of detailing my car. Don't have the funds for a g220 so was wondering what you guys think of the silverline range?
