Budget is about 2.5k, been looking at a Yaris 1.5 T-Sport.
Defo want something jap, and the quicker the better, but 51 plate is the oldest she will go!
Anyone any ideas?
Thought I'd keep this out of the F1 thread as it's not really related to this season - but just wondered what thoughts were on the talk of engine changes.
It's all speculation but the common theme seems to be that we're moving towards 1.5 ltr 4 cylinder engines which totally confuses me - is that really what should be powering the pinnacle of motorsport?
The problems I see is that firstly that just sounds lame although I realise that they'll still obviously get massive power out of it (with twin turbos) but it still just doesn't evoke excitement.
Secondly I think this is the wrong direction - reducing power (in theory) will increase reliance on aero which doesn't promote overtaking. They should be going the other way by giving the cars too much power to handle so we really see which drivers can really grab their cars by the scruff of the neck and make them go quick!
moke:We all know that garages try to rip off innocent motorists and I have carried out a little experiment to prove this
moke:
Fault with car: The stud snapped inside the brake disc on the rear wheel, for those of you that don't know it is the studs that protrudes from the brake disc and then you put your wheel onto them and then secure it with the nuts.
Called up Lexus dealers to ask how much a the actual stud is...£2.17 excl VAT
Called up my local garage, they quoted me £250, said it is a very labour intensive job, they will need to take caliper off, disc off, drill it out, bla bla will take 3 hours, needless to say I told em where to go...
Called up another garage.... £45 if I supply the stud and will take an hour.
Called up the guy who services my Lexus at the local Lexus dealers/centre, he told me to come see him after 5 in the evening, and fitted it for me in less than an hour for very cheap!
Whats the logic, how can some run down garage be charging me 200+ when a guy who works for Lexus charges 1/10th of that! :Bazza:
Happy Birthday Tony, have a great day !
hi there,
i am thinking to get a hks camp in future and want to connect it to a screen like Rabster has done. if i buy the later sat nav with the wider screen. i know i would need to put a after market screen in it which should not be a problem but i was wondering how would the motor go up and down when the ignition is on and off. hard??
thanks

Jason

I know the stereo's in the IS depend on the code on the front as to which cars they'll work in but what are the chances of a bottom loading stereo from a 2001 working in a 99? is it luck of the draw if you don't know your code or was something changed between the years hence the different codes
Cheers.

What do you think??
Cleaned my car today, went to the back as usual to come across this, council havnt picked up the cardboard and paper, or emptied the brown bins, some of the stuff is from my address.
I've sent an email to the council with the pics and to my local MP, they have had a week since the original collection date, and its all still there.

is yours worse?
hock:Got a call from my Lexus dealer earlier in the week asking me if I was interested in changing my car - wasn't too interested as per my previous thread, but as I still have that expensive repair to do thought I'd pop in and see what's what.
Worth considering here that I inquired about p/exing early last year and was offered £4,500 at the time. Today they said they'd give me £7,350 against a new car, or £4,800 against a used car which I thought were quite decent valuations, especially considering Parkers has a p/ex value on my car at £3,385

Obviously this was straight off, so some further negotiation might have brought prices down even further. So seems like we're still stuck deep in recession right now despite all the nonsense that apparently we're recovering.............
